I WANT ANOTHER PIECE OF PIE!
When I was little and my parents gave one of my other siblings something, I’d scream “That’s not fair! What about me?” My parents would then give in and give me something as well. This only led to someone else screaming the same thing, “That’s not fair! What about me?”
The pie, according to the ego, will never be cut fairly. That is not true when you learn to operate from that part of you that is one with God/Source/Divine.
So what does fair mean? According to the Oxford English Dictionary, it means “in accordance with the rules or standards; legitimate.” The group has achieved fair and equal representation for all its’ members” or without cheating or trying to achieve unjust advantage.
Who judges what is fair? That is where the problem lies. At the present moment, most people judge what is fair from good old Screaming Mimi, the ego. The only thing the ego thinks about when making this judgment is, “It’s all about me.” How can something be fair when you’re only thinking about yourself?
True fairness starts when you look at everything and everyone involved and think how the situation would be most beneficial for all. We all have our strengths and weaknesses, and all of that has to go into the equation. “Why did you celebrate my brother’s C’s? I got all B’s, and you did not celebrate.” What if your parents’ answer is that they know you did not apply yourself as much as you could have while your brother worked extremely hard for those C’s?
When I was in college, I had to take four semesters in sight singing and music dictation, which was probably the hardest thing I have ever studied. No matter how much I studied, I just could not get the hang of it. At the end of the first semester practicing about two hours a day, I received a D. I was grateful for that D because I was sure I flunked.
I continued for the next three semesters with the same results. The last semester, to my surprise, I got an A. It was not because I did “A” work. Other students could have said, “That’s not fair, I didn’t get an A, and I am much better than her.” However, the professor included effort into my grade because he considered that to be part of fairness. He saw me in the music library everyday practicing for hours, while no other student was there regularly. I finally understood my parents’ excitement over my brother’s C.
All of our egos want to be special, however egos judge what being special means. Some egos think having lots of stuff makes Mimi special. Others prize beauty, fame, or fitness, and some egos want to be special by being the best thief. What our higher self knows is that it’s already special because God created our beautiful spirit, that essence that is Divine.
Our higher self needs not be more special than anyone or anything else because spirit knows that everything and everyone is equal. We don’t need to do a thing to be special. I AM my Father’s child. I and my Father are One. I AM LOVED. That is the song of our higher self, the only song it needs.
Have a sparklingly day! Enjoy. Walk around today and see all as special, all are created from THE ONE. Thank you.
