For I will be merciful toward their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more.
Hebrews 8:12
I can remember a time when I could not understand the second part of this sentence. God not remember? I could say I forgive people who have hurt me or “sinned” against me, but not remember? How is that possible? How could God not remember? God is all-knowing, and yet God does not remember? That made no sense. Well, that has all changed.
The way I see it, the reason God does not remember is that he never saw us doing anything wrong. God only sees what he/she created, and the only thing God can create is Love. Not only are you Love in form, but so is everyone in the entirety of the Universe. I can honestly say when I look at the world, that is not always what I see. If God can only create as Himself/Herself, then what we are living is not truth. When you don’t see truth, in reality, you are seeing an illusion.
I am not denying the darkness in human nature. As The Course in Miracles says, deep within us lies a “murderer, the secret enemy, the scavenger and the destroyer of your brother and the world alike.”

These words explain why, despite our best efforts, our relationships so often disintegrate into hostility. This leads us to believe we are unworthy to stand in God’s presence. Nothing could be further from the truth.
If this world is like a dream—or should I say nightmare of some sort—it is time to wake up. It is not that we haven’t done vile things as the course teaches, but those are acts from our lower self. Our higher self knows not sin, and that is the only thing God sees.
How Theresa Plans to Save the World is all about waking up. You don’t look at what you perceive others are doing wrong. You look at yourself with innocent eyes and notice where actions and behaviors no longer serve you and change. The steps in saving the world so far tackle complaining and judging (which I have talked a lot about).
Step 3 will be forgiveness. It is about teaching Love, not by our words but our actions as well. It is not do as I say. It is do as I do. Do as I do from this awakened state means that you chose to see differently, change the glasses, and see as God sees—perfection. God only sees our perfection because that is who we are. God can not remember our sins because only truth exists. LOVE. All the other stuff we see is based on fear, feeling alone, feeling abandoned, feeling unworthy. Well, you get the idea.
It might seem like a high calling to see differently, to see the good, the holy and the beautiful, but it is who we are. We can do this. Toddlers play with appropriate toys, and as they grow, so do their toys. They have grown, evolved, and changed. That is what we are doing here—growing, evolving and changing.
As we start to talk about forgiveness, we come to a knowing that we are here to forgive ourselves. To recognize how much of our own pain we project onto others. Talk about a scapegoat. Time to stop and smell the roses. If we allow Screaming Mimi (the ego) to be the voice that leads the way, we will live in pain. We will complain, judge, and suffer.
If we make the choice to start learning to see as God sees, to allow the still small voice to direct our ways, it will lead to happiness, joy, and everything wonderful.
My hope today is to see with those beautiful new glasses recognizing the truth of our beauty.
