In the earlier part of my journey, I would beg, Take this away from me; Do that for me; and the famous, If you do this for me, I will do that for you. I am sure, Source/Divine/God had a great chuckle. I did not want to take responsibility for myself—I just wanted everything I perceived to be wrong to just go away miraculously.
Time is a great gift when we use it to learn.
When with others, use time to discover what patterns are running you. Why did I do what I did? Why did I react in that manner? Why did I exaggerate the situation to others? Did I need pity? Did I have a need to appear important?
This is important, yet difficult because you have to stay present and aware of all that is happening. To be truly committed to awakening, you have to stay present no matter how uncomfortable.
There are so many questions we can ask ourselves. Am I conforming to others? Do I perceive myself as a victim in this situation? Every situation can be used to learn what Life is all about.
That can be summed up in one word – LOVE. Take responsibility.
If you find you are talking faster, that you are agitated, that you are feeling constrictions, you can be sure of one thing—you need to take another look. Those are all signs that you are not responding from a place of Love. No need to start kicking yourself. It is just an opportunity to embrace and accept what you’re reacting to and realize some forgiveness work is needed.
Why forgiveness?
Forgiveness is the recognition that nothing has been done to you, that you would prefer to see the face of Christ in the other.
I loved that explanation of forgiveness which I found in the book The Way of the Heart. Allow yourself to feel whatever, but choose Love anyway. Let the walls down, allow, and grow. Use time, and eventually you realize you are totally responsible for every thought you put out in the world.
My Mom used to say, “keep your negative thoughts about others to yourself.” I know now it is so much more. When I have negative thoughts about others, I need to forgive, to work, to learn, to see the beautiful light that is in all of us.
It takes dedication to recognize when you are allowing worldviews to control your actions. When you live in this world but not controlled by this world—that is when true happiness is present. Thinking the way the world teaches us to only causes pain and suffering. Time to take the higher road.
I hope you all enjoy your day. Celebrate Life!! Take Responsibility for all your thoughts, and grow in awareness to whom you truly are, love in form.
