Aha Moments

I love how the Spirit teaches, always loving, which means without judgment. Spirit never says “I’ve told you that 1000 times.” Spirit will say something as if it is the first correction. I have had a couple of experiences or aha moments recently.

A friend was waiting patiently for a response to an email in order to make decisions on how to move forward. I said “I hate when people do not respond.” Well, then came the moment, the aha. I heard very clearly, “How many times have you chosen not to respond?” Ouch, how true.

I have also come to realize how many times I judge someone, only to realize I have done the same thing. I am not saying this with guilt but with joy that I am learning and growing.

Sometimes, the aha moment comes from another person. Mary (as in the glossary) was having a problem, and I sat in quiet and received the answer for her. Not three weeks later, she had to give the advice right back to me. Yet another ouch! We have been doing this for years. Sometimes she gives the advice, and other times, it is me. However, it always comes back to bite us. Then, we both learn and grow AND laugh a lot in the process.

Another moment was the realization that I have more compassion and patience with people I love or even strangers with whom I have no past negative experiences. I feel many would agree with that sentence. However, the problem is that Jesus said,

“If you love those who love you, what benefit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. And, if you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is that you? Even sinners lend to sinners, to get back the same amount. But, love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil.”

Luke 6:32-36

Yet, here I am realizing that I have a problem showing the same amount compassion to all. Another aha moment. The wonderful thing about these moments is that they happen when you’re ready to hear. I am grateful for this newest lesson.

When you hear something that resonates with you and gives you peace, listen. Be open to change. Don’t beat yourself up—it’s like the song says, “I was blind but now I see.” Thank you, Papa, for all your gentle teachings so I can become—or better yet—remember who I truly am.

Hope all your aha moments are accepted into your heart. However, if not, don’t worry. You will receive the lesson again until you do. Blessings to All.
