Christ Consciousness is a mystical term that refers to a spiritually evolved state of being. When we observe the life and message of Jesus Christ, we can see the qualities of love, devotion, courage, and surrender at the center of His teachings and example. The term ‘Christ Consciousness,’ therefore, refers to the embodiment of these qualities in our lives.
I read this definition online and thought it was beautiful. I believe this is the tip of the iceberg of what Christ Consciousness is. I have heard only 5% of the iceberg is on top of the water but most is underwater and cannot be seen, so let’s try to look under the water and see what we find.
When we tap into Christ Consciousness, we are tapping into everything God is, Love. We can all tap into it because we come from God—we, too, are Love, Love in form. When we listen to the still, quiet voice, we are tapping into this consciousness.
At this level, we can feel oneness, oneness with all that is. We realize that to do harm to anyone or anything, we are also doing ourselves harm. When we are tapped into Christ Consciousness, all that flows from us is the qualities that are stated above.
It is not that we “fake it till we make it”—it is the only way we can be. Better stated, it is the only way because we have awakened to the truth of who we are, Love in form.
As children learn and grow, so do we on this spiritual journey. When we have had enough experiences that cause pain, regret, and disappointment, we start desiring something better. This is when we start waking up from the nightmare, from the illusions that we have surrounded ourselves with. The illusions we create are many; they are all the things we thought would make us happy.
We start knowing that through the will of the Divine is the only way we become happy. Why? The will of the Divine is one thing—LOVE, and that is what we all desire. When we follow that will, we are happy.
I am not saying you no longer have struggles, but you know with your whole heart that what you are doing is right for you. That is one of the reasons I enjoy movies that are based on true stories. They are stories of the qualities above and more.
The reason you know it is right for you is because your thoughts are flowing from Divine, to you. That is Christ Consciousness. In that flow, you feel the connection to all; it is no longer you and me—it is just one.
Mother Charlotte (who was my first mystical teacher and the pontoon boat in my book) would start a class by having all of us greet each other. In the greeting, we would call a person by their name, adding the word Christ. In other words: I, Theresa Christ, greet you, Mary Christ. She did that to help us realize we are all Christ. We might not be living it yet, but it is who we all are, One in Christ.
